My cob house featured in PARADE Magazine

By May 2, 20104 Comments

Haha. A few weeks ago, a woman from PARADE Magazine contacted me about the grain bin renovation here at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage. With my email response, I included a link to this website, and the writer decided to feature GOBCOBATRON instead of the grain bin home.

So now 70 million people have read about me (‘Ziggy Liloia’ – I actually almost never use my nickname and last name together) and building my cob house here at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage. Weird.

Unfortunately, they did not include either a link to The Year of Mud or Dancing Rabbit’s website. But here’s their story on it: Home, Strange Home.

“Home, Strange Home” is not a very good title. What’s strange about living in a small, simple house you’ve built and paid for with cash? I find it strange to pay outrageous sums for 30 years and live in a stick framed lifeless box.

  • Congrats! Nice to get press coverage. Maybe they will do a whole piece on simple living in small homes soon too.

The tone of the article seemed rather patronizing to me, but I guess if all publicity is good publicity . . .

I don’t think your house fits in with the other 3……..I just don’t think of cob as being strange anymore. Now, that big orange pyramid, THAT was strange! By the way LOVE the site. I came here to read about earthen floors and keep coming back. Thanks. 🙂
