We are pleased to announce that the details are finally settled for our first natural building workshop in our new home location of Berea, Kentucky — this September, we’re hosting a Cob Building Workshop at Forest Retreats homestead!
Join us September 5-7, 2014 for a 3 day workshop to learn cob building essentials — we’ll be building a sheltered outdoor bench from the ground up, and an interior wall full of artistic touches in a newly built straw bale home. September is a stunning time of year here on the edge of the Appalachian mountains, and participants will almost certainly enjoy the beautiful setting as much as the cob stomping and sculpting.

Excellent news Ziggy! I’ve made a note in my journal and really want to attend, we’ll have to see how the spring goes. I’m still putting all my extra cash towards my land principle, I really want to get that damn land note paid off ASAP.. it will make moving to my Ozarks woodstead so much easier.

I remember EXACTLY what that cold mud felt like between our toes! Thanks for using that picture…it says it all! We speak fondly of our experience with everyone who will listen.
Hope all is well with you and April. We still look back on our workshop with you guys (ya’ll) as a life changing experience, and are still looking for a place to land…getting married in June!
