Another big fulfillment came in the form of moving our wood cook stove into the house today. Hooray! The stove made it through the door, and nothing terrible happened in the process either. Mind you, the stove weights 750 pounds, so it was no slouch trying to maneuver the beast into its final resting place. We found this beauty on craigslist months ago — it’s a Kitchen Queen 480, an Amish-made wood cook stove of epic proportions. Here you can see me about to light the first fire… yes, it was a giddy moment for me.
And here’s a picture of the moving process… is it me or does everyone look just slightly concerned? Thank goodness we had a solid eight people on call. Without a serious jack or dolly, it would have been a real trick without human power… thank you friends!
More on the new (to us) Kitchen Queen 480 soon… I’m still digesting our first meal cooked on the stove, bibimbap and banana bread… yummo. I am one happy camper right now.
Fantastic did this stove have the option of the attachment to heat hot water? Some cook stoves do.
Do you mean a reservoir, or a coil that heats up water in a separate tank (not attached to the stove)? We can get a reservoir if we want, and it’s possible we could set it up to heat a separate tank, too.
