If you’ve been here, you know him

Here is a very very trimmed down look at the last 6 months, via pictures with brief captions. Every couple of months I think about updating this blog. But then I can barely muster the mental fortitude to write coherently. So — why not just throw this out there instead?

Summer is ok, but spring is way way better. Summer = too hot and too green. Spring = freshly green and still bearable during the day.

The timber frame pavilion is in full use this summer — workshop learning space, dining space, pizza night hangout. I’m especially in love with the building at night when it’s all lit up. It kinda pulls you in.

This is year two of Japanese Carpentry Workshops with Yama-san and Jon Billing. Absolutely a pleasure to have them here and soak up their wisdom. We get to meet so many interesting people each summer in these classes. Let’s keep going.

We rarely have it together to do a proper winter cover crop in the fall. Last year we did part of the garden, and it was somewhat successful.

First plaster on the pavilion. I’m dying to get back to applying more mud on the walls. It really ties the room together.

April and Hazel’s incredible cardboard cob house model. They cannot be stopped when it comes to craft day. See any resemblances here?

Installing this floor took up 5 months of my life. I may never do a floor like this again. I get a little tired thinking about it still.

My current preoccupation — the 14×16 timber frame storage structure we’ll build in August. The exterior design (which you obviously can’t see here) will be inspired by Japanese kura.

This was our first year serving homemade ramen during a workshop. I think it was successful. This was a year in the making. Good things take time.

More later! I hope!
